SAA is an acute phase-response protein, belonging to theapolipoprotein family of heterogeneous proteins. It is similar to C-reactive protein (CRP), which is a sensitive indicator of early inflammation of infectious diseases and can helps to diagnose inflammation, assess its activity, monitor its activity and treatment. SAA and CRP combined detection can help patients with bacterial infection and viral infection differential diagnosis. In addition, rising serum SAA levels can be detected in diseases such as bacteria, fungi, viral infections, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, acute graft rejection, and other diseases.
